  • There's a Hair in my Dirt

I learned that you need to know how the food chain and how nature works or else you will disrupt it. Harriet didn't really know how nature works so she killed a bunch of animals. She is a little crazy. We need to leave animals alone and let nature be what it already is.
  • Biotic & Abiotic

Biotic is something that can reproduce and stuff, and things that were once living (a corpse, poop, etc) Abiotic is something that was never alive.
  • Venn Diagram II

I put the alike's of Salad, Grapes, and Bread. We put it in a venn diagram.
Salad and Grapes: both come from plants
    Grapes and Bread: both squishy
Bread and Salad: things are combined to make them
Salad, Grapes, Bread: They are all food
  • Atrophic Energy Levels

90% of energy is lost to heat each time you go up in the food chain.
  • Planet Earth: Mountains

We learned today about tons of different types of animals tha tlive in the mountains. I liked the Panda. They eat bamboo and if they have babies they have to abandon one. This is one of the reasons that they are becoming extinct.
  • Resources

Today I learned that one day doesn't represent one year very well, resource wise. You might use one resource a lot, but you don't happen to use it the day you do the experiment. That would mess up how much you do it the whole year. I also learned that you use a lot more resources than you think!
  • Classifying Properties

    1. Symmetrical or Asymmetrical
    2. Toys or Tools
    3. Bend or Not Bend
    4. Plastic or Not Plastic
    5. Colorful or Plain We had objects on a tray and we had to find different ways to classify them.
  • Chemical and Physical Properties

Mr Wood's tie is orange, blue, and yellow. It has stripes and hexagons. It has an upsidown trapazoid at the top and is long and skinny at the bottom. It doesn't smell like anything. It is smooth and made of silky fabric.
  • Physical and Chemical Properties

Is windiness a physical or chemical property of air?
Wind is a chemical property because it changes the air when it blows.
  • Chemical and Physical Properties

How can you tell what chemical properties a substance has?
-By how it reacts to different things
  • Phase Change

    1. It changes the appearance of the object.
    2. It doesn't form a new substance.
    3. Icecream will melt in the sun, but it is still the same substance it was before.
  • Gaseous Physical and Chemical

How do you tell the difference between gaseous physical change and gaseous chemical change?
    Physical-it is reversible
    Chemical-it is not reversible
  • 3 things learned today

    1. Salt makes the fire's flame turn orange.
    2. Cornstarch can catch fire.
    3. Iodine makes things look gross.
  • Atoms

I learned that atoms are ALWAYS moving no matter if they make up a solid or not.
  • Atomic Structure

Rule for making a positive ion: put more protons than electrons
  • Isotopes and Ions

What particle determines an ion and an isotope?
The neutron makes it an ion because it makes it more negative.
The electron makes it an isotope because it changes the mass but it is still the same atom.
  • Periodic Table

What do the columns and rows represent in the periodic table?
They represent what atoms are alike .
