    Sara's Story
    I was born October 2nd, 1985.
  • Started preschool

  • First Communion

    I had first communion at St. Michael
  • St. Michael Graduation

    After 9 years (kindergarten through 8th, I left St. Michael. We had a big graduation for the class at the church.
  • Began North High School

    I began high school and switched to a public school. This was very eye opening for me. In high school I participated in track, soccer and cross county. I ended up leaving sports after being diagnosed with epilepsy later in 2003.
  • Graduation

    I graduated at the Tyson events center on this date. I sang in the choir and graduated with a 3.6 GPA. I made royalty my senior year.
  • College years

    I began college at Western Iowa Tech. After 2 1/2 years I recieved my associates. I transferred to Morningside where I did not feel like I belonged. In 2008, I came to Buena Vista. I finished my bachelor's in May of 2009.
  • Graduation

    I graduated with my bachelor's at this time. I returned to school to work on my endorsements.
  • Brock is born

    Brock is born on this day and he is the best thing in my life to this day.
  • Job troubles

    I begin to go through a series of jobs including para positions, summer jobs and a brief stint at the boys and girls home, as well as 2 years at daycare.
  • Mother passes away

    My mom passes away. This is really difficult and I go through a lot of emotional days.
  • Job troubles continue

    I continue to struggle finding steady employment. I am really struggling at this point and it is only compiled through greiving for my mother. Thank goodness for awesome friends and family.

    I have now gone through many interviews for school positions both teaching and para educator positions. I decide to leave the daycare permanently and go to subbing in hopes of full time employment with benefits.
  • Subbing

    I am subbing in the schools and do this for 2 years. I work in the summer and struggle because my son is getting bigger and I feel as if I am missing out, but have to work to support him. The more I sub, the more I want my own classroom, but I am beginning to consider other options.
  • McDonalds

    Ended up at McDonald's for summer and school break work for 2014 and 2015. I applied for many positions and no one was considering my applications.
  • Community Action Agency

    Community Action Agency
    I accepted a job! Finally I will have full time employment and time off during breaks and summers to spend with with my son. I am so thrilled!
