Ivan IV "The Terrible" comes to power

Ivan IV turns 16 and is finally old enough to become czar of Russia, so he is corrated this day.

Ivan IV defeats two of the Tatar strongholds

May 22, 1552

Ivan defeated the two Tatar strongholds of Kazan and Astrakhan, which helps with Russia's expansion into Siberia.

Ivan IV died and Boris Godunov, one of Ivans friends takes over the country because Ivan's son isn't old enough, Ivan's son was later murdered which people believe to be the work of Godunov so he could become czar.

People distrusted Boris and he couldn't deal with the issue of famine which allowed invaders to easily take Russia, this caused a few years of chaos.

Start of the Romanov dynasty

May 2, 1613

Michael I becomes tsar of Russia and starts the Romanov dynasty.

Michael makes the country at peace with Sweden

Mar 9, 1617

With the Treaty of Stolbovo, Michael I makes Russia at peace with Sweden

Michael makes Russia at peace with Poland

May 30, 1618

Russia is at peace with Poland because of the Truce of Deulino

Peter the Great takes the throne at 10 years old

Jun 25, 1682

Peter the Great is coronated as Tsar of Russia.

Peter sets out to siege the city of Ingria.

Oct 4, 1700

Peter tries to put the city under siege so he can create his great dream of St. Petersburg, but the artillery the men were carrying was cheaply made so it failed.

Elizabeth's reign begins.

Jun 25, 1742

Elizabeth becomes Tsar of Russia.

Death of Elizabeth.

Dec 25, 1761

Elizabeth dies on December 25th 1761 with no heir to the throne.

Catherine II is crowned

Sep 22, 1762

Catherine II dies and the throne goes to Paul I

Nov 17, 1796

Nicholas II the last Tsar is coronated

May 26, 1896

Nicholas II is murdered and the monarchy is abolished.
