Ivan's first wife was believed to have been poisoned causing her death. Ivan was very devestated and become paranoid.

Ivan's Secret Police

Ivan creates the Oprichnina in order get rid of Ivan's enemies or anyone who he thought was a traitor in his eyes.

Ivan Disbands the Secret Police

Nov 12, 1572

After the Oprichnina massacred around 1,500 citizens, Ivan finally realized that they were causing problems rather then getting rid of problems.

Ivan's Oldest son dies

Nov 19, 1581

After a feud, Ivan struck his son in the head with a staff which kills him. He was the next heir to the throne.

Ivan's Death

Mar 18, 1584

Ivan dies from a stroke.

Feodor I

May 31, 1584

He was mentally restrained therefore he was incapeable of ruling.

Feodor's Death

Jan 16, 1598

Feodor dies without an heir.
