    Ivan The Terrible was the first czar of russia. He helped lead the county through invasions and economic decline. But he is called the Terrible because he killed his son, and a lot of people.

    Peasants who had nothing were turned into slave called Serfs. Serfs were owned by the nobility and bounded to the land that they worked on. Serfs had no rights and were forced to live in poverty

    During the first world war, the russian people were sick of war because many of them were starving. The Bolsheviks lead by Vladimir Lenin seized control of russia from Nicholas II and took them out of the war. They applied Karl Marx's beliefs into their government and founded the soviet union.

    Joseph stalin took over the soviet union after the death of lenin but he wasn't any better than him. He ruled over russia with an "iron fist," killing over 20-25 million Russians during his rule. The only thing he is perseid for was defecting hitler in WW2 but yet again he also didn't liberat the countries controlled by germany but took over them so maybe he didn't do any good.

    The cold war started after the end of WW2 with 2 super powers "fighting" to keep control of what they have. In 1985 Gorbachev came into power and actually did help with restructuring russia to glory. Present day russia is kinda a mess with Vladimir Putin calling the shots and it's only going to get worse.
