Napoleon is born at Casa Buonaparte, in Corsica. He is the fourth child of Carlo Maria di Buonaparte and Maria Letizia Ramolino.

Napoleon studied at Autun, which is a religious school located on mainland France. It is noted that Napoleon was often mocked for his accent, which led him to further invest in his educaiton.

Napoleon left Autun and began his military studies at Brienne le Chateau. He would study here for 5 years and become an excellent student.

Napoleon studies at the military institute, Ecole Militaire. While here, he trains to become an artillery officer. He completes a 2 year course in just 1 year! He graduates in 1785 and is the first Corsican graduate of Ecole Militaire.

Napoleon is commissioned as second lieutenant in La Fere artillery regiment. He served for 4 years, then takes a 2 year personal leave in Corsica.

Napoleon marries Josephine du Beauharnais. Because she was unable to give him an heir, he divorced her in 1810 and remarried.

In the first of many campaign wars of the French Revolutionary Wars, Napoleon leads trrops to defeat Austrian forces at Lodi, Italy.

Napoleon is successful at the Battle of Rivoli. He leads the French troops into victory against the Austrian troops in Italy.

Thinking they are not powerful enough to overcome the British navy, Napoleon leads an expedition in Egypt from 1798-1801.

Following a coup d' etat, Napoleon becomes the First Consul in France.

Napoleon corwns himself Emperor of France in Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. He crowns his wife, Josephine as Empress of France.

Napoleon divorces Josephine and marries Marie-Louise in April of 1810.

Napoleon has a son with his second wife, Marie Louise. His name is Napoleon Francis Joseph Charles, or Napoleon II. From the moment he is born, he is called "King of Rome"

Napoleon abdicates the thone as Emperor of France. One month later, he is exiled to the island of Elba.

Napoleon excapes from Elba, returns to Paris and reclaims control of France. He begins his Hundred Days Campaign

E\Concluding his Hundred Days Campaign, Napoleon is defeated by British foces at the Battle of Waterloo. They exile him to the island of Saint Helena.

Napoleon spends 5 years in exile in Saint Helena. He dies here on march 5, 1821.
