Nikolai Tesla's Radio
Nikolai Tesla created a wireless readio in 1893. Although he was the first to invent such a thing, people aften credit Marconi as the father of the radio. Marconi sent and recieved the first radio transmission. -
Marconi's Radio Signals
On this date, Marconi sent and recieved the first radio signals. This helped him become the father of the radio. He was the first to transmit signals across the atlantic ocean. -
WW1
During World War 1, the radio was used to send and recieve massages from boats and other armed forces. This improved communications between soldiers, helping them in the war. -
Radio in the 1920s
During the 1920s, radio increased in popularity. The Americans had KDKA, while the British had BBC. In the 1920s, Westinghouse Company got a comercial radio liscence which created the KDKA. -
Britain
BBC started to be broadcasted during this time. It broadcasted information across the country. It didn't get rid of newspapers until 1926 though. -
AT&T
They broadcasted their first advertisement in 1923. They were able to toll and chain broadcast. This began the toll and chain broadcasting industry. -
WW2
During World War 2, radios were used frequently throughout the war. They were used by ground troops radioing for air supportand to relay details of the war to the public. -
After the War...
Radio started to be used more for music. It targeted families and teens as a source of entertainment. Rock and Roll started to emerge around this time. -
Radio in the 1950s
FM radio waves started to take over AM radio waves. The FM radio waves were used more for music then communications. This helped spread music across the United States. -
Modern Day Radio
Radios can be found almost everywhere. They can be found in cars, houses, and can be bought individually. They are small and can fit in anyones pocket.
