Project management is the art of combining human and machine resources and solving issues in order to achieve a set of objectives and/or deliver benefits within a specific time frame, budget, and quality. In any industry, ensuring the quality of IT projects is a need. In this unit the principles of management and managment methodologies will be investigated. We will have five main stages. We will research a problem and have a lot of fixes and outline the solutions. We will also be planning.
-
Look into the principles and methodologies of project management in IT like the way it is used in the IT industry.
-
You will need to carry out a project initiation for an IT project.
-
Apply an appropriate approach to the planning, execution, monitoring, and control of an IT project.
-
Close down a project by reflecting on your personal performance as well as the project's outcome.
-
We did a exercise about the evolution of Project Management.
We also had to discuss the importance of PMBOK and when during that we had to include the 5 main parts of it.
We had to find meanings of word in terms of project managment. -
This lesson we did a table which had three projects we randomly chose and had to write about them using 5 stages of project management.
-
Last lesson we had created a table where we had to think of 3 projects and talk about them using the 5 steps of project management which are initiating, planning, executing, monitoring/controlling, and closing. Towards the end of the lesson we then did meetings/interviews with Mark of our projects and talking to him like if he was the client.
-
In this lesson we had done three exercises where we first explained the 5 stages of life cycle of project management and adding advantages and disadvantages. We then looked at some methodologies and explained what they are and looking at them. We then proved onto PRINCE2 where we looked at principles, processes, themes and tailoring and discussing what they are and how they are good to PRINCE2.
-
Last lesson we learned about the project life cycle. This included us talking about the software development methodologies and advantages and disadvantages of them. With that, we also looked at PRINCE2 principles, processes, themes and tailoring then discussing what they are and how useful they're.
-
In this lesson we had done exercises about project management case studies. We first talked about AXELOS and what it is and the benefits of it. We moved onto picking 5 case studies and talking about their precis, benefits with PRINCE2, and lessons learned. We then started on the first Assignment of Project Management.
-
Last lesson we looked at what the role of AEXLOS is in IT. We also looked at the benefits of it and how it will work in a business with team members. We then moved onto looking at 5 case studies looking at their project precis', prince2 benefits of it, and the lessons learned from the case study.
-
In this lesson we looked at the RAD methodology and how it makes use of the CASE tools. We then listed some advantages and disadvantages of Gantt charts. We then moved onto discussing what Delphi is then pros and cons of the RAD methodology. We also looked at why RAD was an approach for a client. We researched the waterfall model as well. Lastly we looked at two common agile methodologies which were Scrum and Lean Software Development and listed their pros and cons.
-
Last lesson we did 6 exercises which looked at what the CASE tools are and what they're used in. We then looked at some advantages and disadvantages of Gantt Charts. As well as that, Ruby on Rails was also looked at how they chose an appropriate methodology which is RAD. Waterfall model was looked at and how it was the first process model to be introduced. Lastly, we looked at pros and cons of Scrum and Lean Software Development.
-
In this lesson we did a binary table with examples such as IP addresses. We then moved onto looking at the Project Management assignment and started on it.
-
In this lesson we did a binary table with examples such as IP addresses. We then moved onto looking at the Project Management assignment and started on it.
-
This lesson we looked at two exercises where we first did a sentence of words comparing functional and non-functional requirements. We then did a role description of Project Managers, System Architects, Product Owners, Developers, and Quality Assurance.
-
In this lesson we did a binary table with examples such as IP addresses. We then moved onto looking at the Project Management assignment and started on it.
-
In this lesson we looked at some methods used to identify a problem such as flip it, the creativity dice, fishbone analysis, problem tree etc and wrote about them. We then looked at a video by Stephen Covey and we looked at advantages about the video and if we agreed with him. We also looked at a video about Urgent v Important Matrix. Lastly we researched De Bono's 6 Thinking Hats and wrote about how they can be applied to project managment.
-
In the last session we learnt about different project management techniques. we watched a YouTube video that shows us how to manage our time for what's more important and urgent.
-
In this lesson we continued with Assignment 1 and making sure we have added onto it and getting it done before the due date. I looked at P2 and M1 where we had to explain the project management structures applied in different IT projects and then compare using appropriate definitions, the characteristics of different methodologies and structures applied in IT projects.

In this lesson we worked on work that will help out on the second assignment. This involves problem definition, generation of ideas, alternate solution, researching theme, and information sources.

10 thoughts about the cyber exam are:
1 - Questions long
2 - Confusing to read
3 - Different documents and should be in one instead
4 - Information is cluttered everywhere
5 - Need more pictures to help thinking
6 - Understood it after reading it multiple times but at end of exam read over again
7 - Revise on past papers so then this type of exam/questions get easier to do
8 - Practice exam based questions to get knowledge ready
9 - Ask questions to teacher for help
10 - Make notes for questions -
In todays lesson we did two documents which were a graphics 1st meeting agenda and graphics 1st meeting minutes. In these documents we discussed about the project we were doing for the customer.
-
White - Two documents which were a meeting agenda an minutes.
Red - I felt confident hosting the meeting.
Yellow - Everyone part of the meeting understood it.
Green - The meeting had good ideas because the questions were detailed allowing the attendees to contribute well.
Blue - The planning was good as I wrote at the bottom what we should talk about in the next meeting.
Black - Could've added more to the meeting as it was basic but it was the first meeting so understandable. -
White - Wrote down risks for IT solutions with a feasibility study.
Red - Hard to understand at first since both assignments/units are combined so makes it more confusing.
Yellow - Benefits would be gave me an idea how to write a feasibility study and figuring out risks of a project and solutions.
Green - The ideas I got would be how the project is related to the graphics assignment and the risks of the project.
Blue - This lesson the risk register was planned out.
Black - It was confusing first
