Process of Mass

  • Presentation of gifts

The Priest presents the gifts of the Eucharist saying:
Priest: Blessed are you, Lord, God of all creation. Through your goodness we have this bread to offer, which earth has given and human hands have made. It will become for us the bread of life.
All: Blessed be God for ever. Priest: Blessed are you, Lord, God of all creation. Through your goodness we have this wine to offer, fruit of the vine and work of human hands. It will become our spiritual drink.
All: Blessed be God for ever.
  • Prayer over the gifts

This is where the priest blesses the food using a different prayer for every mass and at the end all people respond saying: Amen
  • Eucharistic Prayer

The priest chooses one of the four Eucharistic prayers. The four Eucharistic prayers are: Preface Dialogue, The Sanctus, Memorial Acclamation, Doxology and the great amen.
  • Lord's Prayer

The Priest of the mass says a prayer then the Our Father then begs the lord to keep us safe.
  • Sign of Peace

  • Breaking of the Bread

The Priest breaks a peice of circular bread as everyone sings:
All: Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world: have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world: have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world: grant us peace.
  • Communion

    This dialogue happens first:
Priest: This is the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. Happy are those who are called to his supper.
All: Lord, I am not worthy to receive you, but only say the word and I shall be healed.
Then the community all stands up and goes in aline to recieve the bread.
  • Period of Silence or Song of Praise:

When the distribution of the body of christ has been completed. It can be silent so the people have time to pray for the lord. Altenatively a song of praise may be sung.
  • Prayer after the Communion

    The prayer is as follows:
    Priest: Let us pray
[All pray in silence for a while, unless a period of silence has already been observed. Then the priest sings or says the Prayer after Communion, which is different for each Mass. At the end, the people proclaim their consent.]
    All: Amen.
