Students are encouraged to submit proposals for design projects in the Discussion Thread set up for this purpose in the eLearning Design Project Module. We will start this discussion on January 26, with proposals due on January 31 so you can get into design teams early. The instructors will select 4-5 projects for this class based on the proposals submitted.

Each student will work in a design team to design and develop an eLearning course that is appropriate for the target learners and the learning task. Since this task involves an extended process, you are required to complete four assignments as part of this project with your team members as described below:
Learner Analysis (10 points)
Initial design document (10 points)
Usability Testing Feedback (15 points)
Final eLearning Design Project (25 points) -
Based on the design project your group has selected, you will interview two or more distance learners who will enroll in the course your group is designing and conduct a learner analysis, asking questions to guide you in your course design.
-
The Initial Design Document can be considered to be the “blueprint,” or “roadmap” sometimes referred to as "storyboard" setting out the development and implementation of the course. The design document sets out two basic components—the course content and how the course will be delivered.
-
Your team should have completed the design of one module when you begin this task. Ask the learners you interviewed earlier to participate in the usability testing of your first module. It is preferable to have at least 3-4 learners.

The final design project including all documentation and media is due on Wednesday, May 12. This will include the design document, Moodle (or other platform) modules, media that was developed to support the design, and report on peer evaluation of the presentation. The grade for the design project will be based on peer evaluation of the presentation and instructor evaluation of the design project
