  • Federalists

    John Adams is elected president for the Federalist Party who believed that the new central government should be given the greatest power of government.
  • Democratic-Republicans

    Thomas Jefferson was the President, and tried to limit the powers of the Federal Government.
  • Jacksonian Democrats

    A movement for more democracy in the American Government, greater rights for the common man and opposed any type of aristocracy in the nation.
  • Modern Democrats

    These are people who are liberal, open to change, like minimum wage and progressive tax, decreasing spending on military, and they love the idea of abortion.
  • Modern Republicans

    The Republican party tends to lean to the more conservative side of things. They believe that the federal government should not play a big role in people's lives. Favor lower taxes and less government intervening.
  • The Party of Lincoln (Republicans)

    Abraham was elected president in 1860, and as a republican, opposed slavery.
  • Roosevelt Democrats

    Franklin Roosevelt won presidency and this party consisted of southerners, farmers, organized labor, and big-city political organizations.
