    Raised the prices of imported goods to help support the industries in the northern states. The south and west did not like this since it lower the amount of money they made. South Carolina was the state to hat this tariff the most.

  • Tariff of 1832

    This was a tariff which revised the tariff of 1828. This reduced the rates of the tariff. This was done by congress which they hoped would be enough for South Carolina to follow. Most of South Carolina did not believe this was enough of a change.

    This was a ordinance that stated the tariff of 1828 and 1832 were both null and void. South Carolina refused to pay the tariff do to believing it was only helping the industries in the north states. The state also passed laws enforcing the Ordinance one being raising an army in preparation's for if things turn violent.

    This was a bill passed by congress and president Andrew Jackson. This bill authorized the use of an army to be issued to any state to enforce the tariffs. The main state this was passed for was South Carolina and them nullifying the federal government tariffs.
  • Compromise Tariff

    Lowered tariffs rates until they were at 20%. This was compromise to appease South Carolina and the north states. This was to keep peace and union amongst South Carolina and the federal government.
