Napoleon invade Italy and got control over it. He also got thousands of soldiers from Italy to fight for him, so it was a success.

Egyptian Campaign ❌

The Egyptian campaign was meant to disrupt British trade with India. It was a disaster but he didn’t share the stories of his worst losses to the people in France, so it was a failure.

The consulate was a top level Government of France. So, it was a success.

Banque de France✅

1800

The Banque of France was successful because it gave France a stable currency. The bank was used to foster economic recovery after the strong recession.

Concordat of 1801 ✅

1801

The Concordat of 1801 defined the status of the Roman Catholic Church in France. So, it was a success.

Consul for Life ✅

The consul for life declared Napoleon the sole ruler of France. He created the Napoleonic Code and negotiated the Concordat of 1801. So, it was successful.

Napoleonic Code 🟡

The Napoleonic Code made mens authority of their families grow and deprived women of any individual rights as well as other things. Many nations adopted it which was a success but it reintroduced slavery, also making it a fail.

Declared Self Emperor ✅

This was a success because he was the highest ruler of France after he made himself the Emperor. He was able to expand his empire through wars.

Resistance in Spain ❌

1805

Napoleon introduced reforms that sought to undermine the Spanish Catholic Church. Spanish patriots didn’t like this so they conducted a campaign of guerrilla warfare. The small attacks they kept doing made Napoleons soldiers unable to help him in other places. Which makes this one a fail.

Battle of Trafalgar ❌

Oct 21, 1805

This battle ruined Napoleon’s plans to invade England so it was unsuccessful. The British Royal Navy was against the combined fleets of France and Spain.

Abolishes Holy Roman Empire ✅

Jul 5, 1806

Napoleon destroyed the Roman Empire and made the emperor resign from his position. So, for Napoleon, this was a success.

Continental System ❌

Nov 21, 1806

Napoleon’s Continental System failed to work but British exports declined. Britain did have a powerful navy which kept vital trade routes open to the Americas and India. This was a failure for Napoleon.

Invasion of Russia 🟡

1812

Napoleon wanted to force Russia into the Continental blockade of the British. It was a success and a failure because the Russians won, but it went down as one of the most well planned strategies of all time.

Battle of Nations at Leipzig ❌

Oct 16, 1813

This was not successful because after Napoleon fought the armies of Russia, Sweden, and Austria the French lost and were forced to go back to France.

100 days ❌

Mar 21, 1814

Napoleon stepped out of power and the winners exiled him to Elba. They then put Louis XVIII as king. The 100 days were how long he was gone for. Since he was exiled, it was a failure.

Abdication ✅

Jun 22, 1814

The winner exiled Napoleon to Elba. Which is a small, Mediterranean island. An economic depression and the fear of a return to the old regime helped rekindle loyalty to Napoleon. He also escaped his exile and returned to France with his soldiers still by his side. So, it was a success.

Waterloo ❌

Jun 18, 1815

This battle was a day long where British forces and the Prussian army slaughtered the French. Napoleon was forced into exile again, but this time we never returned. This was a big failure.
