    journey to Ellis Island
Hello my name is Anna King and I am from Ireland. I have decided to move to America because the cruel goverment has burned down my house and has taken my land which has made me want freedom even more. I am very excited and nervous for this journey and I am anxious to see what lies ahead.
  • Moving through Ellis Island

    Moving through Ellis Island
Going through Ellis Island was not as easy as I thought. The people all around me were mean and spoke different language. It felt lonely and cold and very crouded. Somehow though, I made it through. When I reached land I tried to quickly find a place to stay and a job to work at but that process also wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. Most of the people in America aren't very nice to Irish people and they most definitely are not very welcoming.
  • Finding work

    Finding work
I soon found work at a factory plucking feathers from chickens but was soon fired because I did not know what I was doing, so now I am working with a group of dancers in a local pub.
  • Working through the winter

    Working through the winter
Working through the winter was hard. I didn’t have the proper clothes to stay warm, and I didn’t have the money to buy them. I am still working as a dancer because it’s the only option I have right now, but I will hopefully be moving west soon.
  • Finding love

    Finding love
I finally got to stop working as a dancer when I met Joseph Paine and fell in love. He is a rich merchant who is 30 years old. We will soon be moving west together to find land.
  • Moving West

    Moving West
Me and Joesph are moving west now to get married and hopfully start a family. Our stuff is packed and we are moving in a real nice wagon that is attached to two cows that Joesph got us. Me and Joesph both are excited to get new land and start a new chapter in our lives. This will be a big change, but hopefully it is for the better.
  • In the west

    In the west
We are now in the west and we still haven't found land. There are many people looking for the same thing and it can get very violent when arguing about land.It is starting to get cold and if we don't have land by then, we could freeze to death.
  • Injuries

    Injuries
We have found a nice peice of land, but problems just seem to keep coming our way. Right after we got our new black stallion decided to buck Joesph off, and step on his two legs. This has prevented him from building our new home and we had been living in our cold wagon. He is late in the healing process and can hopefully start building soon.
