My Family

  • Great Migration

The Wilsons, my mom's side of the family, were first established in both the Scotland and England regions. During the 1600's, much of the East coast of North America had become overrun by scots in a period of time often called "The Great Migration." It was said that a few of these scots were indeed some of my great ancestors, the Wilsons. *Souce: http://houseofnames.com/Wilson-family-crest

  • Declaration of Independence

In 1781, one of my ancestors on my mom's side of the family, Thomas Mckean, signed the Declaration of Independence. Thomas Mckean was known to be the representative of Delaware at this time in history. *Source: my mom
  • First Wilsons

I don't know much about my mother's side of the family, except that they came from Scotland, as I mentioned previously. The earliest Wilsons were vikings who settled in Scotland during the Midieval Era. It is uncertain how this side of my family ended up in the United States, but we assume that they much have immigrated sometime in the earlier 1800's.Also, it is said that the Wilsons could be descendants of the Mongomerys. *Source: http://houseofnames.com/Wilson-family-crest/my mom
  • First Herreids

My first family members on my dad's side of the family came from Norway. My great, great grandparents immigrated from Oslo to the United states, and we've been here ever since. They came by boat across the Atlantic Ocean, from the coast of Western Norway. *Source: my dad
  • Today

After both sides of my family had immigrated from their seperate countries, they both traveled to Wisonsin to find new lives. This is where my family lived up until my grandparents and parents moved to Washington later on. Although if anyone asks where I am from, I will say Colorado; I know I am as much from Norway as I am from the US. *Source: parents
  • First King

The Herreids were origanally related to the first king of Norway, King Harald Fairhair. This dates back many centuries, but can be traced if you look far enough. This king's life remains almost entirely uncertain, since the only records of his life were written hundreds of years after his ruling. Source: my dad
