Queen Elizabeth started the East India Company to develop trade between Britain and India. English became the language used for trading. However, some words, which meant one thing in Britain, meant another thing in Indian English. A special dictionary called Hobson Jobson was made to explain the meaning of these words.

The slave trade was also called The Triangle Trade. Ships would load up with guns and manufactured goods in Britain, then sail to West Africa. In West Africa the manufactured goods were exchanged for African slaves. Then sailing across the Atlantic. Landing in the Caribbean the slaves were sold at auctions. They then worked there as slaves. Finally, the ships loaded up with sugar, tobacco and cotton and sailed back to England.

Children were forcibly removed from their families because the government made an assumption that they could be improved by adapting to the white society. The young aborigines were psychologically, physically and sexually abused in their new homes. Living strictly and controlled with lies told, prohibit against speaking their native language and to be ashamed of their Indigous heritage.
