    Father Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla leads a rebellion of 80,000
    He led a rebellion of 80,000 poor Indians and mestizos. They hoped that if Mexico became independent from Spanish monarchy, their lives would improve.
    "Action must be taken at once! There is no time to be lost." (Father Miguel Hidalgo 1810) This was a statement made by Miguel Hidalgo had said this as an encouragment to the others who were near to supporting the revoltion.

    Joseph Smith is trying to say that the (Holy Spirit) is a good creature that brings many ideas, and, we believe that it is also to inspire Mormons to strive forward and that everything must happen for a reason.

First, they took out the person incharge of the alarm, then they hacked the North door and ran in. They annouced that they will kill them all unless they surrendered. In the end, the Mexicans surrendered and the Texans won.

    William Travis is trying to call upon the American military for help, but is becoming distressed. We believe what he is trying to state is that if the American military does not help in the battle of the Alamo that not only would they die, but themselves would be slaughtered as well.

    "When a government has ceased to protect the lives, liberty and property of the people...becomes an instrument in the hands of evil rulers for their oppression." (Texas Delcaration of Independace as cited in IsJunction.com). This text is stating that when the government does not uphold the citizen's rights, they are evil. The text means that they have the right to declare their Independance because the government is evil.

This entry is saying that he left home to ge to California This means that California is so interesting that people would leave their home to travel to California.

    Trying to find a shortcut, the group left the main trail and got lost. When Donner Party reached the Sierra Nevada Mountains, they became trapped by heavy snow. A rescue party found them in Febuary 1847. “came to this place on the 31st of last month that it snowed we went on to the pass the snow so deep we were unable to find the road..." (Diary of Patrick Been as cited in pbs.org). This entry states that it was snowing and they got lost. Been is saying that the trail was harsh with the snow.

    This man is trying to state that the people in California are being treated poorly, but in reality, we believe that it is a way to convince americans to fight.

(James W. Marshall as cited in Wikipedia). James W. Marshall is saying here that the material that he has found in a river near his camp in California seems to be suplhuret of iron.
    I believe though that he is trying to state that it couldn't possibly have been gone, since it was so valuable.

This statement states that there is a lot of gold in California. When he says it will change the character of Upper California, he means that California has valuable resources, so many people will come, making it a popular place.
