    Monitoring and strategizing one's health goals are the best and most efficient way to achieve them. "By setting yourself
    effective health goals, you’ll maximize your life span and enjoy
    your life more too!"(pg 7). There are many ways to reach health goals effectively, but first, one has to establish the goals themselves
  • How to establish and maintain your goals

    To begin with, one has to set a starting point, to grow from. "Do you exercise? How often and for how long? Do you get enough sleep? Do you feel tired or do you have heaps of energy?" (pg 8) These things may seem small, but they are key indicators of how healthy someone is. If there is lack of sleep, and a balanced diet, these can play out to dramatic consequences.
  • Reaching Goals safely

    After setting goals, based on one's current health situation, now research family history, good/bad eating habits, metabolism and anything else that could help in improving your body safely. Educating oneself on physical limits is another must. "Allow yourself 1 week per pound of weight you want to lose. Allow yourself 3 months to get in to peak physical fitness."(pg 10) Goals, especially heath related, can't be achieved overnight, it takes diligence and dedication.
  • How this Relates to me

    From an early age, my mom educated me on eating healthy. It is particularly important, because 90% of my mom's family has some form of diabetes,including herself. The importance of eating greens, how insulin works and how to apply it in case of emergencies were all lessons taught for the future. Now, thanks to this training, it's instinct to choose healthier, carbohydrate-free options when going out to eat. My health goal for the future is to continually limit my sugar intake, to avoid diabetes.
