CD-ROM
According to Wikipedia The CD-ROM was standardized around 1989. By using a CD Drive on computer, a laser is shined on the reflective surface on the CD, and that reads microscopic pits made on the wafer. These pits feed back into the Computer as data, thereby allowing you to use a CD to archive and retrieve data. -
Nintendo 64
The Nintendo 64 was released in 1996 after being developed for three years by the Nintendo corporation. Though it was not the fist console to use 3D graphics or implement the use of a analog stick, it is still credited as a console that shaped how games where made from there on out. It set in stone how games work their camera systems, as well as helped standardized button placement/uses. -
USB Flash Drives
Though apparently the title of inventor of the Flash Drive is contested, the patent belongs to three inventors, Amir Ban, Dov Moran, and Oron Ogdan from a Israeli company called M-Systems. The flash Drive helped revolutionize file sharing, and storage in its time by giving an easy and portable way to carry data. Unlike a CD-ROM that had small capacity limits and that could be scratched/corrupted, Flash Drives easily outpaced file capacity and were much sturdier then thin discs. -
Nokia 3310
The Nokia 3310 was one of the most popular cell phones ever made. When it was released in late 2000 it was many peoples first ever cell phone of any kind (including my family) . It was cheap, reliable, and as most of us know neigh indestructible. One of the things I feel people often forget is that it was one of the first phones to introduce T9 SMS texting. Unfortunately it was often very expensive since each text message was charged for individually.
