When started Middle Age, a new germanic kingdom appeared (in Spain): Visigoths. They stayed there for more than 200 years, until 711.

In 711, an empire, coming from Asia, arrived by the south of Spain, this empire defeated the Visigoths (that it was the kingdom of part of Spain), and conquered all of Spain. They called Al-Andalus, all of the kingdom of Spain.
By the years, Al-Andalus was losing territory, because the Carolingian Empire (France), was taking part of the territory. In 1492, the kingdom of Spain ("Corona de Castella") defeted Al-Andalus, that was more smaller. -
On 1300, so many crisis arrived, like an epidemy (Black Plague), so many wars and a lot of poverty.
This epidemy killed 1/3 of poblation in Europe. -
In 1492, Cristobal Colom, travelled by the sea, and he discovered a new country, America. This is considered the end of the Middle Age and the Start to the Modern Age.
