By 1453 the Ottoman empire has been established. The Armenians were granted religious freedom and remained Chirstian. They were treated as lessers compared to the Mulsims of the Ottoman Empire. Inequalities included prohibition from certaing jobs, additonal taxes, and a lower legal status.

The Turkish government orders the Armenians market district at Van to be destroyed. The market burns and causes loss of goods, property, and businesses.

Makes the first constituion of Ottoman Empire. It provided for an elected bicameral parliament and for the customary civil liberties, including equality before the law for all the empire's diverse nationalities.

Sultan Abdul-Hamid II loses war , he delcared on Russia. As a result Serbia, Montenegro, and Romania gain independence, "Greater Bulgaria" is formed and Turkey must cede territoy over to the czar. These terms are annouced in Berlin.

Turkish government bans any Armenia performances in Constantinople. Urban Armenians from Garin and Arabkir protest agaisnt the government.

The Turkish governement bans the use of the word "Armenia" on official documents.

All Armenian periodicals and magazines are banned by the Turkish Government in Constantinople and Western Armenia.

The Armenian people wanted the changes that were said in Berlin. In reponse, the yrevolt and roughly 100,000 are killed.

Leading up to the genocide, peaceful protesting Armenians are killed by the government. They are also displaced and robbed if htey wern't killed.
