History: Great Britain deicided to stop fighting because it was costing them too much, so they decided to let the United States become independant so they would trade with them.

Purpose: Believed France threatened peace and wanted them to be isolated.

History: Promoting local governments and rebuilding local communities and environments. The South Africans wanted a non-racial democratic society, but soon apartheid was introduced.

History- Czechs and Slovaks divided their country along a new international border.

Countries Created: Ireland and Northern Ireland
History: Ireland gained independance in 1937, but stayed a member of the British Commonwealth until 1948. Ireland expierienced the Easter Rising, the Irish War of Independance, a civil war, and the partition of the country into two states.

History: In 1993, the United States annexed Hawaii. They demanded the right to re-establish an independant state. The Hawaiians also demanded vocal minority.
