Laredo Child Development Center History

  • Building opened

    In the Fall of 2006 the Child Development Center at Laredo opened. It had previosuly been housed at Paris Elementary. The first administrator was "Straz" Strazkowski. When it opened it had 12 classrooms. One classroom was a half day program for students with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder, one classroom was three year old only. The ratio was 50/50 CPP and SPED.
  • Even Start

    This grant funded program ran till 2008. It gave young mothers in the district daycare and life skills training.
  • Introduction on TS Gold

    In the Fall of 2007 the school adopted the TS Gold curriculum and assesment program. They had previously been using the Creative Curriculum program, this was an extension of that..
  • End of Even Start

    This grant funded program moved to Janaica CDC.
  • Family Liasion

    A full time family liasion position was created to support families.
  • Addition of Child Find

    In the fall of 2008 Child Find was added to the building and took over classrooms 23 and 25. The offices of ECE left LCDC at this time as well.
  • New official Director Shannon Blackard

    After transitions with interim directors Shannon Blackard was named.
  • New Administrator

    In the Fall of 2010 Shannon Blackard became the building administrator.
  • Addition of Audiology Sound booth in room 25

  • Additional Classroom

    Due to additional funds from Ecare we were able to start an additional classroom in Room 31. This classroom was not allocated special education spots.
  • Floating Facilitator

    A floating facilitator position was added to the building to support during staff abscences.
  • Mental Health

    A full time mental Health provider was added to the building to support students and families.
  • Second Child Find Team

    A second Child Find team was added at LCDC to support the amount of families we had in the northern part of the district.
  • Classroom changes

    Classroom 31 was changed from a CPP only classroom to a blended classroom with the addition of 7 special education spots for AM and PM division.
  • New Interim Administrator

    CIndy Andrews became the new interim Administrator.
