    The Headright system granted 200 acres of land for each family in georgia with an additional 50 acres for each member of the family. slaves got up to 10 acres of land. no family got more than 1000 acres of land. This was not equal or fair because if you had a big family you got more land than someone with a small family and even less if you were not married.

    The University of goergia was the first university in America to be created by a state government. The principles undergoing its charter helped lay the foundation for the American sustem of public education.
  • Louisville

    Gerogia legislature gatherd here about the political uproar caused by the yazoo land fraud. This was a popular trading area .
  • Cotton gin

    The cotton gin was a simple machine that seperates cotton fibers from the seeds. The machine transformed the course of agriculture in the south and increasd the reliance of slavery and the plantation system.

    4 major companies bribed members of the legislature and got land for a very low price but then the companies would sell it for a very high price. this also forced people already on the land to pay for the land or leave.

    Betweeb 1805 and 1833 georgia conducted 8 land lotteries. During the 28 years in whinch the lottery operated georgia sold about 3\4 of the stste to about 100,000 familes and individuals for a little amount of money. few man gained land, slaves, and wealth while leaving the majority of the population poor and politcally weak.

    The georgia railroad company was charted to a group of Athens businessmen in 1833 to build a railroad from Agusta into the interior state. the company headquaters moved from Athens to agusta georgia in 1840.

The baptist chruch conventions brought people who liked missionary work and educatin. then the people stayed in georgia. the methodists did conferences to get new people to thier churchs. the conferences were about theological belifs and organiztional structure.
