People were scared they did not know what was happening. First it started like the flu, "nasha, sleepy," then parilization for the rest of there lives. In the united states people were coming in parilized left and right. Hospitals were turning in to take care houses filled with iron lungs. -
Polio Falls
After the trials the polio virus stared to fall, less people were getting polio. The vaccine saved lives. This is inportan becuase if we did not have this polio vaccine there would be more people dead and parilizing until some one elts would make the vaccine but more peolpe would be in iron lungs and wheel chairs/ cruches. -
Got major awards
He got the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1977 from President Jimmy Carter. On Jonas Salks birth day Oct. 24 was declared World Polio Day. He also got the Congressional Gold Medal. This would be a major event to himbecause it is a one in a life time thing, first know one gets day for them self and gets the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
