Kemal's Changes
President Kemal Ataturk wanted to trandsform Turkey to a modern state & wanted a democratic system. Arabic systems were eliminated from the Turkish language, which was now written in the Roman Alphabet. Turkish citizens were also forced to adopt last names. Caliphate; Formally Abolished
Men were Forbidden to wear the Fez, & women were forbidden to wear the Veil. New laws also gave women marriage & inheritance rights that were equal to men. -
Women Get Their Rights
Women get the right to vote. Citizens were also given the right to convert to other languages. -
Kemal's Death
Kemal Ataturk dies from medical reasons. Most chamges he introduced to Turkey were kept. Is still known as the creator of Modern Turkey.
