In the year 1547 Ivan was crowned the tsar of Muscovy. In that same year he also happened to marry Anastasia Romanovna.

In 1552, Ivan's armies crushed the Tartar khanates of Kazan.

When Ivan's armies first attacked in 1552, it resulted in extended Muscovy control to the Urals in the east and the Caspian Sea in the south, creating a buffer zone against the Mongols.
-
In the year 1560, Ivan's first wife died and that event sent Ivan into great depression. He was almost convinced that the boyars were the ones who murdered his wife, he was paranoid about it for a while. He decided to suddenly leave his throne which left the Muscovites leaderless, and they pleaded Ivan's return. Ivan agreed, but only on the condition of him having absolute power of Moscow.

In 1854 Ivan's health started to fail and he started to become obsessed with death. He would call witches and soothsayers to sustain him for a while. On the 18th of March he died from an apparent heart attack. He willed his kingdom to his son, who was unfit for the title.
