In 1547 Ivan the Terrible was finally crowned as Muscovy's first czar. Czar is a another word for "ceasar". He was crowned in the Kremlins great Hall. This was important because he was the first czar of Muscovy(Blumberg 126).

His first millitary campaign was against the tatars of the khanate of Kazan. Kazan was finally taken by ivan in 1552. After that he took over khanate of asstrakhan(blumberg 126).

When Ivan moved into the Baltic region a war broke out called the livonian War. This lasted 24 years and was broken up by Pope Gregory. Unfortunatley Moscow was burned to the ground as a result(blumberg 126)

His wife Anastasia Rominov died mysteriously. Historians believe that it was murder and that she was poisoned. She was the reason why he had good years of his reign.(blumberg 126). This was important becasue as a result he was depressed for a while and went into what was known as his bad years.

Ivan suddenly left Moscow for his estate at Aleksandrowskaia Sloboda 60 miles out from Moscow.He threatened to retire but people pleaded to return back to Moscow. Finally he returned back Moscow(blumberg 126). This was important because he almost retired due to anxiety.

The 80 years war began in 1566. The Dutch began to revolt against the Spanish(Grun 236-254). Ths event is important because the Spanish were controling the Dutch for a long time.

General Toyomtomi Hideyoshi begins to lay the foundation for the osaka castle. Unfortunatley he died when it was completed(Grun 236-254). This was important because it was an important because it was bigger than Oda's castle who had built one before him.

Ivan The Terrible continued to grow very ill and eventually died. He died at age 54, during a game of chess. His other son Fyodor is assigned the throne but he gives the power to his other brother Boris Godvnov(blumberg 126). This is important because Ivan finally dies.
