    But, over time Australia was found to be a very livable place and people began thier new lives here with their families and this new land was known to be their permenant home. The Europeans not only brought their family over, but their foods and traditions aswell. They changed the way Australians eat even to this day.

    When in Australia's history did the United Kingdom arrive here?
    The early settelers first arrived in Australia on the first fleet, 24th of January, 1788. Theu bulk of Europeans continues to arrive here until 1850. At first Australia (Or as it was called then, New Holland) was used to jail convicts as Britian became over crowded and the economy was low.

    What new ways of farming did the introduce?
    They introduced cattle and sheep farming, domesticating animals for their produce- like chickens. They also introduced hunting rabbits and ducks as a sport.

    They brought over Milk, butter, flour and eggs, meat, pastries, vegetables, fruit, jam,. With these ingredients they made traditional recipies such as pies, cakes, pastries and savoury muffins.

    The English roasted (chickens and other meats.), boiled (vegetables), baked (Cakes, muffins, pies, pastries) and poached (eggs). They also brought oven the barbeque, ovens (and the materials to make them), hot plates and the use of fire in a stove-like manner (to heat pots and pans).

    Some common flavours from the herbs and spices of the Pacific Rim are, Anise, Bamboo shoots, Banana leaves, Bean sprouts, Belacan, Blackbean sauce, Bok Choy, Cardamom, Chillies, cinnamon, Cloves, Coconut, Coriander, Cumin, Curry, Fish sauce, Galangal. Ginger, Kaffir lime and leaves, Lemongrass, Mint, Palm sugar, Peanuts, Saffron threads, Turmeric, Tamarind and Tofu.

    Ingredients:
    When Italians migrated to Australia they brought all their family recipes and ingredients with them. These ingredients included, Eggplant, rice, dairy foods (cheeses), sea foods, a variety of different meats (salami, ham), Balsamic vinegar (used for dressing salads, vegetables etc.), sun-dried foods (Tomatoes, olives, fruit.), sauces and most importantly, pizza and pasta.

    Cooking methods:
    Traditional Italian cooking methods are quite distinct from Australia's approach to cooking. In present- day Australia many of us may choose to eat microwaved foods, though even in modern Italy they still choose to eat freshly cooked foods. They do not enjoy the taste of microwaved foods. Like us and other parts of the world, they use the following methods, baking, roasting, grilling, frying, stewing and boiling. They use these ways of cooking for pastas, meats, veggies etc.

    In many dishes the rich, indulgent, quality of food has maintained their original taste. In other popular meals Australian's have modernised and added our own culture in it. Foods such as pizza have been influenced by our and other countries. We discovered unique and tasty topping of pizza, e.g. Hawaiian, Capricciosa and Vegetarian. We incorporated different ingredients into their traditional tomato sauce pasta, e.g. Carbonara which contains a lot of cream, baco

    My own food choice:As I am from an Italian heritage I was intoduced to Italian foods at a young age. Some of my favourite foods are the Australianised spaghetti with meatballs, homemade pizza and treats. But as Australia is a multi- cultural country I am also open to eating foods from other countries like, Mexican foods (Buritoes, Tacos), Australian meats, pies (meat, sheaperds, potato).
