  • Personal computer - IBM 5150

    Personal computer - IBM 5150
    Created by Don Estridge, this computer became a popular choice for computer design in the early 80s. The only main competition within the 80s itself ended up being the Apple Macintosh series. Overall, it was affordable for a home computer at the time, and sold over 200,000 of them.
  • LCD projector

    LCD projector
    The LCD projector was invented in 1984 by Gene Dolgoff. In short, its a type of video projector for displaying video, images or computer data on a screen or other flat surface, which we commonly use a form of today. Due to the currently reliance on computers today, it makes a highly valuable tool for sharing information within a room, for instance in a classroom or business meeting.
  • Disposable camera

    Disposable camera
    The disposable camera was initially created in 1986 by Fujifilm. This ended up revolutionizing how we take pictures, as it was previously expensive to own a camera, and complicated to use. Where they aren't typically used today due to cell phones, they were used widely for tourism after they were created.
  • Perl

    Perl
    A coding language created by Larry Wall in 1987, this is still something see even today. It's was previously described as extremely useful, versatile, and quite ugly in the late 1990's; however, there have been many revisions since then. Currently, its considered a it's an all-purpose language made for system administrators. Some of the commonly used websites that use it today include:
    Priceline, Craigslist, IMDb, and Ticketmaster.
  • Zip file format

    Zip file format
    Created by Phil Katz in 1989, this file format was created as a way to compress files that's still somewhat used today. The process essentially creates an archive of folders, files, or directories, which then reduces the size as much as possible using a form of redundancy check.
