The gold rush was very important for the Australian economy because it was the first big wave of immigrants since the first fleet. Most people came from china and England to mine for their family's. erueka stockade
The Eureka stockade was one of the first protest against the government and the miners were fighting because of the mining licencee fee so they started a rebellion and built a fortress around the gold fields. When the government so their gourds low the government army went and started the fight. the fight went for 15 min and 22 miners died and 5 solders died. -

the white Australia policy was brought in by the first Federal government. Sir Edmond Barton bought in this policy so the indigenous and incoming migrants couldn't vote for the government.
