Arrival in America
Today I arrived in America. When the boat docked, we got off and went through security and health checks. I got put into confinement because they thought I had a contagious rash. They figured out it was just a small reaction from my sick dog that died on our way here. -
Job Finding
It was very hard for me to find a job because of the irish discripination. but after a bit of searching, a clothing factory finally excepted me. i worked as an orginizer for all of the clothes that were finished being made. -
Family Comes
My family has finally arrived! I have two sons and a husband. All of them made it through the security and health check. Now my husband needs to find a job so we can keep saving money for the land we want to buy. Unfortunatly the children are having some symtems of a sickness that could have been going around the boat. Luckily, they did not show these symtems in the health check. -
Money Saved
We finally saved enough money to by a peice of land! My husband and I have worked very hard for this day to come. My husband bought a horse and set off to buy land with all the others that were doing the same thing. This was happening because of the homestead act. -
Starting a Farm
We planted our first crop. After many long, hard days of working in the feilds, turing soil, we were able to plant our first crop! When this crop is ready to harvest, we will sell the majority of the crop to the local market. This will help them supply the food needed for other families to buy. -
Second Crop
After all of our merchandise was sold we decided to start planting our second crop. My two sons helped us out in the feilds. They know if they help then we will be able to start building our house sooner. -
House Building
After our 5 years of farming we are starting to build our own home. Once we started to build the house, it was very hard and took a long time because it was only us four working on it. Then about 1/3 into our project we ran out of money. This was very bad. We had spent so many days working on the house. Now we will have to continue to live in our very small shack. We will think twice next time we decide to start a huge project such as the one that we can not continue.
