Now known as the Defense Advanced Reaserch Project Agency, DARPA , was first known as the ARPA (Advanced Research Project Agency). It was created by Dwight D. Eisenhower. The point behind this was to form, execute, and develop projects and research, that would enlargen the fields of techonology and science as well, mostly for the military.

In the 1960s Ted Nelson discovered Hypertext. Hypertext is the "concept" or idea behind the links on the web. He also founded Project Xanadu, also in the 1960s. These discoveries influenced many other contributers to the web to help it become what it is today!

Apple Computer Company created it's first coumputer, Apple 1. It was developed by a man named Steve Wazniak.

ENQUIRE was created by Tim-Berners Lee at CERN. It was a software project, that was created in 1980 and it was a straightforward hypertext program. ENQUIRE was the forerunner to the World Wide Web.

NeXT was founded by Steve Jobs in 1985, the NeXT computer was releaed in 1988.
When the first website of the world wide web was created it was running on a NeXT computer at CERN. -
The World Wide Web was created between March 1989 - December 1990. Tim Berners-Lee was the man who took a step forward in science by creating the WWW. Since then the web has drastically changed and improved from 1989 to now.

This day is known as the Web's anniversary date. The WWW was developed in CERN located in Switzerland. In 1991, it became open to new users.

Created by CERN, the first website was called info.cern.ch. It was first put online on the 6th of August, 1991. The first website was all about more information on the World Wide Web project, and information about hypertext and characteristics for creating their own webpage. It even gave information on how to search for things on the web.

TMany newsmedia have reported taht he first photo to ever be uploaded onto the World Wide Web was apparently uploaded by Berners-Lee. It was a picture of a CERN house band called the Les Horribles Cernettes.

The World Wide Web Foundation was created by Tim Berners-Lee in November of 2009. The foundation's goal was to launch programs that would advance the web and make greater changes in the world.

Tim Berners-Lee has won multiple awards for his creation of the World Wide Web, but the most recent one so far happened September 13, 2013 when he was recieved an "honory Doctor of Science degree from the University of Andrews".
