    In 1776 American leaders wrote a letter to the King of England saying that they were fighting to become their own country. They wrote this because the king would not let them pass any laws and no immigrants were able to come to America.
  • Australia settled

    On the 26th of January 1788 Australia was settled. 9 convict ships, 2 naval vessels and marine guards set out to settle in Australia.The first fleet set out on the 13th May 1887 and arrived about 8 months later.

    French Revolution
    The revolution happened because the people of France were not happy how the government lost all there money and the inequalities between the nobles and peaseants. Over 18000 people were beheaded over the revolt.

    Battery invented
    On the 20th of March 1800 Alessandro Volta succesfully created a battery that was able to store electric curent. In 1800 he wanted to create a device that could store electrical current. The device consisted of zinc, silver disks and other strange maaterials
  • American Civil War

    American Civil War
    American Civil War after four years of fighting the civil war ended. It ended the institution of slavery and preserved the United States as one country. Unfortunateley it ended the lives of 625 000 lives
  • Abraham Lincoln assasinated

    Abraham Lincoln assasinated
    On April the 15th 1865 in Washington DC, United States Abraham Lincoln was assasinated. Actor John Wilkes Booth entered the presidents box at Fords Theartre just after 10pm. Booth then leapt onto the stage which resulted in a broken leg, proclaimed his achievement and escaped out the back door.

    On the 4th of November 1879 Thomas Edison created the first electric light system that was his greatest achievement.

    The Modern Olympics is founded
    In Athens between April the 6th and 14th of April 1896 the first Modern Olympics took place after 1500 years. The Olympics attracted 14 countries to participate, there were 241 athletes who competed across 43 events.
  • Australian Federation

    On 1901 1st of January Federation was signed as the way our country would be united. The first commonwealth parliment was held on 9th May 1901 at 12pm.
  • Model T automobile

    On the 1st of October 1908 Henry Ford made his ninth of his production cars and was one of his greatest acheivement. The model T had a 20-horsepower and coud go about 45mph.
  • Titanic Sinks

    Titanic Sinks
    On April 10 the Titanic set sail for its maiden voyage, It was going from Southhampton, England to New York City. It was the largest cruise ship ever and was claimed to be unsinkable. On the 14th of April it struck an iceburg and sunk the next morning killing. 1500 people died as a result.
  • WW1 comences

    WW1 comences
    World War 1 began on July the 28th 1914 and finished on November 11 1918. It was a battle between England, France and Russia versus Germany and Austria- Hungary. 9 million soldiers died as a result and another 21 million wounded.
