In 1906, Lee Dee Forest created a vacuum tube that amplified signals; it was called the audion tube. People believe that Reginald Fessedend was actually the one that created the audion tube but Lee Dee Forest was credited for it.

In 1920, radio stations were invented. They played music and shows. Frank Conrad invented the radio station 8xk which was later renamed kdka.

The term for personal radio stations was "uncle charlie." People used to be able to make their own radio station if they had the eqipment for it; they could air their own station in their own basement.
