    In 1967, the 12th street riot in Detroit was one of the worst and bloodiest riots that occurred between Police and Anti - Police protesters.The riot broke out due to the large African American community that was frustrated with the local police department that was labeled as a 'White occupying army'. Once the riots broke out, due to a African American prostitute that was reportedly shot by police, the community exploded in anger. The riots were stopped within four days, with some casualties.

    Michael Brown of Ferguson,was shot and killed by police officer Darren Wilson when he was assaulted by Brown and defended himself in a life threatening situation. When the shooting happened, protests popped up throughout the community and the United States. When the verdict was reached on this celebrated case, Darren Wilson was deemed not guilty by the court. With this ruling, riots ensued that very night. This event is the spark the exploded the powder keg of anti-police protests in the US.

    Rioting broke out in Baltimore MD when a local African American, Freddy Gray, was shot by police officers and was killed. Charges were sought to be pressed against the Baltimore officers, but they were ultimately dropped. With this, violent protests and riots broke out leaving destruction of the community in its wake. In response, neighboring PD's dispatched support as well as the National Guard being deployed to subdue and pacify these violent protests.

    While anti-police protests were occurring in Dallas, the police and the protesters themselves came under fire. A man by the name of Micah Johnson, a US Army combat vet, targeted police from a sniper position in a building overlooking the protests in downtown Dallas. When the crowd came under fire, the protesters were defended and protected by the Law Enforcement officers on scene. In the end five Dallas officers were murdered by the BLM activist that decided to resort to violence in his protest.

    The tensions currently grow today between Law Enforcement and the newly formed group, the Black Lives Matter movement. With the current election being concluded, the new president elect, Donald Trump, his win has sparked protests and riots throughout the United States. Trump, his supporters and the police are currently under fire from the BLM movement as well as anti Trump protests and rioters throughout the United States. Today is begging to mirror the 1960's with the riots and violence.

Overall the racial tensions between the African American community, the White community as well as law enforcement during the 1960's wrought a vast amount of violent race riots throughout the United States. With the US currently engaged in Vietnam, many protested the US's involvement, this only added more powder to the keg for when it would explode in riot after riot.

    With the History of anti police protests being very prominent throughout U.S history, it seems that we are reaching a point in that it will be a repeat of History. With BLM vs Police tensions only rising, Anti Trump protesters resorting to violent protests and outburst, this country is yet again a powder keg that is on the verge of being lit. We as a collective and whole United States and as Americans MUST come to a conclusion and resolution to the issue that is at hand.
