    Laws were beginning to be put in place as a way of making premedical education more important. It stabilized medical education methods as well. These laws were created by Frederick the II.

    Montpellier Medical School

    The medical school in Montpellier was founded in 1289. Anyone of any race, gender, or religion was allowed to teach there as long as they had a medical degree thanks to Count Guilhem VIII. This allowed to employee many people to get a job in teaching medicine, and gave people the ability to go get a medical degree.

    Human anatomy studies were allowed and gave the doctors a way to figure out new ways of helping people with problems with their bodies

    The "Paragranum"

    The treatises called the "Paragranum" covered Paracelsus' ideas of how he approached surgeries and treatment. It helped doctors to understand how things can be treated differently from before. Paracelsus was famous for his different surgeries.

    Harvey discovered that the heart had two halves and that it pumped blood throughout the body. He did this by studying dying dogs. This helped doctors to see that the body had different systems that worked with each other to help the body flow and function.

    Jenner discovered a vaccination for smallpox in 1796. He observed that people who got cowpox were not getting smallpox. This lead to a test of injecting cowpox in to a boy and then smallpox, and sure enough the boy did not get smallpox.

    Ether was the first anesthetic used on someone by a Boston dentist. It made it so the patient fell asleep and had a painless surgery.

This opened up the doors for women doctors in the U.S. This allowed for that sexism to be broken and new boundaries to be set in the medical world for women. They could now give medical care as a passion with a little less judgement.

    A German physicist discovered the concept of x-ray when looking at a cathode-ray tube and a florescent glow coming off. He discovered it could go through black paper, and it could pass through human skin tissue but just not bones.
