id Software release Doom late 1993. An immersive first-person shooter game, Doom became popular on many different platforms. Doom players were also among the first to customize the game’s levels and appearance.

The Iomega Zip Disk is released to the public. The first version allowed 100mb to be stored on a cartridge roughly the size of a 3 and a half inch floppy disk. Later versions increased the capacity of a single disk from 100mb to 2gb.
