History of Computers.

  • The Complex Number Calculator

    The Complex Number Calculator
Created by George Stibitz with help from Bell Telephone Laboratories.
This is considered to be the first demonstration of remote access computing.
With out The Complex Number Calculator we may have note had remote access computing.
  • Flight Simulator

    Flight Simulator
Project Whirlwind begins. During World War II, the U.S. Navy approached the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) about building a flight simulator to train bomber crews. This is an important milestone because it started training bomb crews and they had created a new way of training.
  • IAS Computer Became Operational

    IAS Computer Became Operational
John von Neumann´s IAS computer became operational at the Institute for Advanced Studies in Princeton, N.J. This was important because people working with this computer could start sharing designs and other things. With out this it could effect how we share info over the internet.
  • The Start Of AT&T

    The Start Of AT&T
Felker and Harris program TRADIC, AT&T Bell Laboratories announced the first fully transistorized computer, TRADIC. It contained nearly 800 transistors instead of vacuum tubes. With out this we may not have cell phone companys because this took them to the next level.
  • AT&T Networking

    AT&T Networking
AT&T designed its Dataphone, the first commercial modem, specifically for converting digital computer data to analog signals for transmission across its long distance network. This helped AT&T make their phone company even better and started long distance calls.
  • Fairchild Camera and Instrument Corp

    Fairchild Camera and Instrument Corp
Fairchild Camera and Instrument Corp. built the first standard metal oxide semiconductor product for data processing applications, an eight-bit arithmetic unit and accumulator. This started the creation of building things to store more memorey and have more space to do things.

Xerox opens Palo Alto Research Center (PARC).
Xerox opens Palo Alto Research Center (PARC). In 1970, Xerox Corporation hired Dr. George Pake to lead a new research center in Palo Alto, California. This started new research for computers and started adding to their information about technolagy.
  • The Motorola 68000 microprocessor

    The Motorola 68000 microprocessor
The Motorola 68000 microprocessor exhibited a processing speed far greater than its contemporaries. This high performance processor found its place in powerful work stations intended for graphics-intensive programs common in engineering. This made it so computers could be faster then ever and made a huge advancement in technology
  • Adam Osborne completed the first portable computer

Adam Osborne completed the first portable computer
Adam Osborne completed the first portable computer, the Osborne I, which weighed 24 pounds and cost $1,795. The price made the machine especially attractive, as it included software worth about $1,500. The machine featured a 5-inch display, 64 kilobytes of memory, a modem, and two 5 1/4-inch floppy disk drives. This started the portable computer with out it we matbe wouldn't have labtops or notebooks. It's what started the portable computer.
  • The Amiga 1000 is released.

    The Amiga 1000 is released.
The Amiga 1000 is released. Commodore’s Amiga 1000 sold for $1,295 dollars (without monitor) and had audio and video capabilities beyond those found in most other personal computers. I think that this is important because it's what started audio in computers and with out it there maybe would be a chance of no YouTube.
