    The Z1 was the first freely programmable computer and had a 22 bit memory. Included because it was the first computer and it wasn't made in the US
  • ABC Computer

    ABC Computer
    Designed to solve linear equations and it was not programmable. It is considered the first electronic computer. Included because it is the precursor to the ENAIC.
  • ENIAC 1 Computer

    ENIAC 1 Computer
    Designed to calculate artillery firing tables for the US Army. Was reprogramable to solve a whole range of computing problems. Was considered the first electronic computer until the rediscovery of the ABC and a patent lawsuit. Included because it was the first well known computer(The ABC lost fora few years).
  • UNIVAC

    UNIVAC
    First commercialcomputer produced in the US. Was used by CBS to predict winner of 1952 presidential election. Included because it acomplished an amazing feet.
  • IBM 701 EDPM

    IBM 701 EDPM
    It was a general purpose electronic computer. 19 of them were built and were mostly sent to government agencies. Included because it was one of IBM's first computers and IBM became acomputer giant.
  • Spacewar

    Spacewar
    One of the first known digital computer games. Computers starting to be used for things other than calculations. Included because it is important to remember computer/video games are computers.
  • ARPAnet

    ARPAnet
    Worlds first form of the internet. Resarch on it was funded by the united States Department of Defense. It was not a commercial network. Included because it was one of the first major networks and was a precursor to the internet.
  • Floppy Disc

    Floppy Disc
    One of the first forms of portable secondary memory. Were made of a "floppy" magnetic disc encased in plastic. Eventually replaced by USB. Included because they are awesome and were the initial form of portable memory.
  • MS-DOS

    MS-DOS
    Commonly used OS in the early 80's. Later replaced by OS with graphical user interfaces(GUI). Essentialy windows rreplaced dos. Included because microsoft is an important company and this was ther first major OS.
  • Microsoft Windows

    Microsoft Windows
    released as an add-on to MS-DOS. Foundation of all Windows OS created up to this point. Started the rivalry between Macintosh and Windows. Included because a large number of computers today are running some sort of windows, mostlikely XP or 7
