    Hernan Cortes quit law school. He found a place on a ship that goes across the Atlantic. Just before he was supposed to leave he fell from a wall and couldn't go.

    Hernan joined a man named Velaques on an expediton to Cuba. They attaked Cuba and they won. Velaques set himself as Governor. Nobody liked the way he ruled so Hernan went against him and ended up thrown in jail. It is unknown how he escaped but he did and went to church. There a man named Xuares helped him get out of there.

    Cortes set sail to Mexico early. So the ship wasn't fully suplied so they had to stop by Islands. In 1519 he finaly got to Mexico with 600 men. The men were starting to die on the ships so they had to burn the ships and walk.

    Cortes reaches Tenochtitlan, They stayed there for a while. Thee more they stayed the less they liked they're way of life. The Aztecs thought they were gods so they gave them gold. Cortes wanted more gold so they took their leader Moctezuma prisoner. Then Cortes left to Veracruz, Mexico and left his friend Alvarado in Charge. Alvarado didn't keep peace while Hernan went away. When Cortes returned the Spainiards were captured then got kicked out.

    Cortes didn't acept defeat. Cortes attaked but had a plan. He cut of the aqueducts that brought fresh water in the city. Then he cut of the bridges to get out of the city. Then the Aztecs could'nt get water or food. The Aztecs grew weak, then Hernan Cortes attaked. He was sucsefu. Hernan took the treasures back to Spain.

    Hernan Cortes dies at the age of 62. He died in Casetilleja de la Cuesta. He died of Pleurisy.
