    Henry 8.

    Henry 8. was proclaimed king of Ireland in 1541. Henry and his daughter wanted to colonies Ireland.
  • Battle of the Boyne

    Battle of the Boyne is a battle for the throne of England. The battle was fought in Ireland between king James 2. (Catholic army) and his son in law William of orange (Protestant army)
    William orange won and ever since the protestants in the Northern Ireland has been celebrating by marching parading with orange flags.
  • Ireland joined the Union

    The Kingdom of Ireland joined the union consisting of Scotland, England and Wales, also called The United Kingdom - UK
  • World War 1.

    When the world war 1. broke out many Irish soldiers participated on the British side.
  • Easter Rebellion

    The Irish soldiers were at the same increasing unrest culminating in the Easter Rebellion witch were crushed and after that some of the most important leaders executed.
  • Government of Ireland Act

    The government were divided into two separate political entities, but at the same time with the power of self government. The government were accepted by both the Protestants and the Catholics who still demanded total indenpence for a unified Ireland.
  • The Irish Free State

    23 southern counties and 3 counties in Ulster. The other 6 counties of the Ulster became Northern Ireland, witch remained part of the United kingdom.
  • Irish free state independency

    In 1949 the Irish free state became an indenpendent republic. England didn't have any power over the ireland.
