Pericles was the son of Xanthippus and Argariste. He was born in Athens, Greece.

Pericles begins politics.

470 BCE

Pericles was a very influential Greek politician. He was one of the creators of democracy and led Athens to their golden age, where they prospered.

Pericles introduces the idea of democratic institutions to Athens.

462 BCE

Pericles is starting to learn the ropes of being a politician. So, he makes one of his first big moves by introducing democratic institutions to Athens.

Pericles becomes the ruler of Athens!

461 BCE

Pericles gets to become ruler of Athens. He will eventually lead Athens into a time of prosperity.

Pericles leads the military in his first expedition in Sicyon and Acarnania.

454 BCE

Now that Pericles was ruler he led his powerful Athenian army on an expedition in Sicyon and Acarnania.

Pericles lead the Athenian army into the Battle of Delphi.

448 BCE

It was time once agin for the Athenian army to enter battle. So, Pericles once again led them into battle.

They started constructing the Acropolis of Athens!

447 BCE

One of Pericles's big moves as leader was building the acropolis. The acropolis was a huge move for any city state, and so when they built the acropolis for Athens it was a huge achievement for the city.

Barbarians are expelled from the Gallipoli because of Pericles's army.

447 BCE

Pericles's army was super successful. They expelled the Barbarians from the Gallipoli which was a super powerful moment for the army.

Pericles leads the navy of Athens in a seige against Samos.

440 BCE

The Athenian navy once again goes into battle under the rule of Pericles. His navy was very strong and dominant under his rule.

Pericles dies.

429 BCE

Pericles dies from the plague. He was 65 when he died.
