    Trojan War

    The Trojan war was agaist the city of Troy and the Achaeans. According to the blind poet Homer, the war started became the Trojans took helen of Troy because of Paris wanted to marry her. The war takes place in Troy, which has high walls that was hard for intruders to get in and attack. This is where the story of the Trojan horse comes from when shoulders hide in a giant wooden horse to get inside the walls of Troy. Because of this, the Greeks won the war.This event also helps historians learn.

    Ancient Greek First Olympics
    For almost 12 centuries,(starting 776 BCE to 393 AD) the Olympic games was a important events that included running, jumping, chariot races, wrestling, and much more. These games where held in Olympia, in honor of Zeus. Just like modern day, The event was held every four years and only free Greek males were allowed to take part and attend this ancient tradition. These games lasted a full 5 days and at least 40,00 people attended. In 2020, we still continue this tradition by continuing the games.

    Homer: illiad and Odesy
    Homer was a blind poet who created the Iliad and the Odesy. These are epic poems created to tell the tails of gods and goddesses of Greece and recall events such as the Trojan war. These where written about the “Bronze Age” in ancient Greece during 1600-1100 BCE. These poems included gods such as The king of all gods Zeus, Aphrodite, Helen of Troy, and so many others. These poems really helped historians learn about Ancient Greek beliefs and events that happens during this time period.

    The Peloponnesian War

    The Peloponnesian War was a series of wars fought between two of the biggest city-states, Athens and Sparta.The war started when Sparta began to fear Athens growing power, and also feared the Delian league. Athens navy was also starting to become very powerful. After Athens golden age, Sparta created a league called the Peloponnesian league. Because of these events, a war started and was fought in Greece and Sicily. After years of fighting, Sparta won. Historians now know much more about Greece.
