Bismarck wanted war with Franch so the southern Germans would voluntarily joined Prussian-control Germany. France declared war back and the southern states joined with Prussia. Prussia invaded France and quickly overan the country

During Franco-Prussian War, the 4 southern german states joined the unification with Prussia. In 1871, Bismarck proclaimed WIlliam I as king (kaiser). The German Empire was proclaimed at the Versailles.
