Generations of computers

  • Period: to

    FIRST GENERATION OF COMPUTER

The first generation computer (ENIAC) were very large, expensive and required huge amounts of electricity and used vacuum tubes.
  • Period: to

    SECOND GENERATION OF COMPUTER

The second generation computers used transistors instead of vacuum tubes
  • Period: to

    THIRD GENERATION OF COMPUTER

Third generation computer have an integrated circuit (IC) is as small transistors but it can work as fast as thousands of them. Integrated circuits made computers faster, cheaper and smaller that the second generation of computer.
  • Period: to

    FOURTH GENERATION OF COMPUTER

The foruth generation computer use microprocessors. A microprocessors consists of a small silicon chip on wich thousands of circuits are placed. The fourth generation computer are smaller, portable and cheaper. They use less electricity and produce less heat.
  • Period: to

    FIFTH GENERATION OF COMPUTERS

The fifht generation computer are the most advanced computer. Scientitsts are now trying to develop fifth generation computer in a way that they can thin on their own. This is called Artificial Intelligence. Robots works in this technology.
