    Nationalist group formed to rid itself of British rule and become independent.

    Despite Gandhi urging Indian's to be nonviolent, there were multiple protests and riots with Indians around cities to prostest the British rule, and thousands were arrested.

    Gandhi is sentenced to jail for six years, but he is later released two years later
