Convening the Estates General
the Estates General was made to sort out France's money problems. -
Tennis Court Oath
The Third Estate was locked out of every room except for the indoor tennis court so they used that room. They pledged to not leave until a new constitution was written up. -
Storming of the Bastille
People fo Paris stormed Bastille to get armors to defend themselves. -
Great Fear
The Great Fear was formed because peasants heard rumors that nobles were paying men to terrorize them. The peasants then broke into noble's homes and destroyed legal papers. Also during this time women rioted over the price of bread. -
Declaration of hte Rights of Man
The National Assembly removed the feudal privileges and passed the declaration of the Rights of Man. Which said that all men were born, remain free, and equal in rights. This did not count for women though. -
Women's March to Versailles
This march was caused because women were tired of unrealistic bread prices. When the women got to Versailles they demanded for Louis and Marie come back to Paris. -
Louis and Marie's flight to Varennes
Louis and Marie tried to escape France but they were caught by the authorities. -

The constitution of 1791 was a government that limited the power of the king. This constitution also created the Legislative Assembly which had the power to create laws. -

Brunswick Manifesto sent a message out the French revolutionists saying, "Do not harm the royal family or I will destroy Paris." -
National Convention
The National Convention quickly abolished the monarchy. The National Convention declared a rebuplic where every male citizen could vote, but not women. Also, the National Convention put Louis on trial for treason. -
The Terror or Reign of Terror
The Terror started whe Robespierre became dictator. About 40,000 people were killed during this time. -
Directory
The Directory was where a two house legislative and executive body of five men who ran the country. Napoleon surrouned the legislature and its members and forced them to vote to dissolve the Directory. -
Napoleon Bonaparte takes over
This is when Napoleon became the leader. Napoleon defended the National Convention. -
Concordat of 1802
The Concordat was signed by Napoleon. It wa an agreement with Pope Pious VII where each agreed to deal with their own issues and not to get involved with the other. -
Louisiana Purchase
The Louisiana Purchase was a treaty signed by the United States and the French. -
Napoleon becomes Emperor
During Napoleon's reign as emperor he won every battle except for one. Also during his reign he took the Netherlands, parts of Italy and persuaded Russia, Austria, and Sweden to join agianst France. -
Napoleonic Code
Napoleon signed a system of laws called the Napoleonic Code. The Napoleonic Code favored order over individual freedoms. -
Battle of Trafalgar
The Battle of Trafalgar was a battle fought between the Britsh Royal Navy and the French Navy. In the end the Britsh won losing on ships were the French lost 22 ships. -

The Continental System was a large-scale embargo agianst the British trade. -

The Peninsular War was a war between France and allied Spain, the Uk, and Portugal. They were fighting for control of the Iberian Peninsula. -
