The Great Fear was formed because peasants heard rumors that nobles were paying men to terrorize them. The peasants then broke into noble's homes and destroyed legal papers. Also during this time women rioted over the price of bread.

The National Assembly removed the feudal privileges and passed the declaration of the Rights of Man. Which said that all men were born, remain free, and equal in rights. This did not count for women though.
