    The people despised the monarchy because it was frivoulous and ineffective, that was what feuled the revolution.. The Revolution was violent and caused many deaths. Following the Revolution was the Reign of Terror which resluted in the death of over 40,000 people. During this time, a five man directory was set up to rule France.
