    Took place during Peqot War. Colonists set fire to Peqot Fort near the Mystic River. Over 500 people were killed.

    A battle that was actually fought in Indiana between Americans and Native Americans. The loss for a leader named Tecumseh forced him to side with Great Britain during the War of 1812.

    The USS Constitution defeats the HMS Guerriere
    This was a battle between an American ship and a British ship. The British kept firing cannon balls at her and they would bounce off. The British would then call the ship "Old Ironside". I believe the cannon balls were actually too heavy and would cause it to lose velocity, making it less likely to break the wood.

    This was a battle between American and British forces in current day Chalmette, Louisiana. The unpreparedness of the British army made them lose this engagement because they weren't experienced in fighting in swampy bayou areas.

    This compromise would impact the slave to free state count. This makes Missouri and slave state, and Maine as a free state.

    This election started the Democratic dominance in politics, after Andrew Jackson won this rematch of the 1824 election. John Q. Adams lost his attempt at a second term that year.

    This allows the president to talk Native Americans and make deals to have them move out of their homeland to sell the land.

    This was a wave of forced displacements for Native American that moved over 60,000 people from their lands. Around 15,000 Cherokee died during the entire trail.

    Nat Turner was a slave who led other slaves to rebel against the Virginians. This outburst lasted 3 days and ended 60 people's corrupted lives.

    Mexican troops were upset over losing the Texas territory to Americans, so they decided to launch an attack on a place called Alamo. Very brutal siege that lasted 13 days.

    Mexico signed the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, handing over the following territories: Arizona, California, New Mexico, Texas, Colorado, Nevada, and Utah. This hugely expanded the United States, and further pushing the idea of "Manifest Destiny".

    This was a court case known as Dred Scott v. Stanford. This court case was over Dred and his wife Harriet fighting for freedom in a free state and territory. They were told to be free, and later the Supreme Court reversed it, causing a spark towards a civil war.
